Bumblebee Bakeshop is a locally owned, San Francisco-based business that has been making custom baked-to-order cakes and cupcakes for over 10 years. We use only the finest and freshest ingredients like pure cane sugar, artisanal cocoa powder, sweet cream butter and real vanilla.
We're two sisters whose love of baking led us to create a business focused on making beautiful cakes that not only look good but taste great too!
Lisa, a mother of two kids who are now well-trained taste testers, honed her baking skills at New York's Institute of Culinary Education and Los Angeles's New School of Cooking. A UC Berkeley grad with an MBA from New York University, she spent several years in the corporate world, holding various management roles in marketing and business development at several major companies and start-up organizations.
Mel, a certifiable dessert junkie, graduated from UC Berkeley and moved to New York City to pursue a career in journalism. However, she immediately found herself finding every opportunity to mix her love of food into her day job as a journalist. Mel wrote feature food articles while at the Wall Street Journal, started her own dessert blog for the New York Daily News and critiqued specialty foods and desserts for the online magazine The Nibble. She has also held stints at San Francisco Magazine and Entrepreneur Magazine.
To focus efforts on maintaining the high quality of its custom-designed cakes, Bumblebee Bakeshop does not have a retail storefront. As a result, we do not offer pick up options and instead deliver directly to your home, office or party venue within San Francisco.
